Fogcreek.com’s Blast From the Past

Published by Justin at 7:39 am under Usability

Fogcreek Software recently launched a new website redesign, with a new home page and a new product page for it’s flagship application FogBugz. It seems the team at FogCreek looked to the past for inspiration.

Your correspondent is unsure if the new homepage is a temporary placeholder or the new permanent homepage. Either way, the new look is brilliant: a brutally simple design that serves the end-users needs first, best and last.

The new FogBugz product site looks very sharp and professional, but there are two glaring usability gaffes:

  1. The font is too small; and,
  2. The sign-up “Try It!” “Buy It!” tabs break the back button.

(Repro steps for item 2: Click on the “Buy it!” tab, click the “Details” link and then click Back on your browser.)
